The ‘Fascicle 28’ (2018) of the ‘Fascicles of Flora of India’ by Avishek Bhattacharjee and H.J. Chowdhery is a comprehensive taxonomic account of the subtribe Goodyerinae (‘Jewel orchid subtribe’) in India which is represented by 13 genera [Aenhenrya Gopalan, Anoectochilus Blume, Chamaegastrodia Makino & F. Maek., Cheirostylis Blume, Erythrodes Blume, Goodyera R. Br., Herpysma Lindl., Hetaeria Lindl., Myrmechis Blume, Odontochilus Blume, Rhomboda Lindl., Vrydagzynea Blume and Zeuxine Lindl.], 73 species and 1 variety in India. The currently accepted names of all the taxa, basionym (if any), all the important synonyms pertinent to Indian literature, with typification of the names, common names (if any), detailed description, flowering and fruiting period, habitat, state-wise distribution in India along with global distribution, abundance, origin of the names (etymology), chromosome numbers (if available), list of specimens examined, and notes have been provided. Furthermore, 29 line drawings, 46 coloured dissection photo plates and 65 colour photographs of different members of this subtribe have been provided.

It should be noted that after publication of this book, two more species (Cheirostylis tabiyahanensis and Rhomboda monensis) belonging to the subtribe Goodyerinae have been added to the orchid flora of the country.
